About Us

Arlene Brett Gordon, Ph.D., LFMT, CFLE.

Arlene Brett Gordon is the creator of Families Facing Solutions. As an early-childhood teacher in NYC in 1971, she worked with families facing diverse challenges. She explored ways to engage parents to support their children’s educational and social needs. Then, as a family therapy doctoral student, Arlene began weaving the specialization of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) with child and family development information to create the first Families Facing Solutions training module in 1993.

Arlene continues to develop curriculums, trainings, and programs based on the diverse needs of client families. She provides solution-focused family education trainings nationally, focusing particularly on South Florida’s tri-county area.

Arlene began to work with Insoo Kim Berg (co-developer of SFBT) as a doctoral student in 1992, then continued to work with her as a project collaborator from 2000 to 2007. Arlene is currently Director of the Brief Therapy Institute, Department of Family Therapy, at Nova Southeastern University and a partner with the Solution-Focused Center of Florida, Delray Beach.
